“Think About It…”

SCENARIO 3

Age:  U9

Gender:  Female

Level:  Third Division / Travel

Situation:

The first game of the season between two long standing rivals that ended the previous season in a hotly contested, highly volatile, over time championship game that ended on a “bad call”.  With in ten seconds of the tap a player from the team won the championship is apparently elbowed in the face.  Immediately the parents on the side of the injured player begin yelling, screaming and threatening.

Special Circumstances:

1.       There is no blood.

2.       There is no card issued

3.       The referee does not even call a foul

4.       The player fouled is one of the teams “best players”

5.       The referee suggests that her teammate inadvertently hit her as they crossed

Food For Thought:

1.       Was the referee aware of the pre existing circumstances?

2.       Who had the best angle at the play?

What Would You Do:

            As a parent

            As a coach

            As a player

            As a referee
