2013 Scholarship Winners Announced...

 2013 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Scholarship Winners
 
Each year, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer seeks out leaders amongst its graduating youth population, and awards scholarships to individuals who exemplify strong leadership abilities, maintain high academic performance and seek financial support. This spring, Kaitlin Sauder won the 2013 Bill Whitney Memorial Scholarship, Rachel Stone won the 2013 Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship, and Richard Wood and Matthew Kleinhenz each received the 2013 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Scholarship.
 
Kaitlin Sauder attended Lancaster Mennonite High School in Lancaster.  Kaitlin has been an active member of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer for 13 years and has played on the PA Classics ’94 Premiere, Lancaster Union, and the CVYSC.  She also played soccer for her high school team where she was a varsity starter for three years and a captain for one year.  In addition to being an awesome all around soccer player, Kaitlin has also excelled in leadership activities as well.  Kaitlin was a member of the Student Advancement Committee, National Honors Society, Leadership Mentoring Program for Middle School students, Second Grade Sunday School teacher, and first chair in the orchestra.  Academically, Kaitlin made the honor roll for four years, was named Paradise, PA Rotary Student of the Month in April 2012, and has taken six AP classes during her high school career.  Kaitlin plans to attend Misericordia University and major in Occupational Therapy.
 
Rachel Stone attended Wissahickon High School in Ambler.  Rachel was a superior student achieving Distinguished Honor Roll and Honor roll each marking period throughout high school.  She was also a member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society.  Awards that Rachel has received are the AP Scholar with Honors, and Honorable Mention at the Montgomery Country Science Fair in 2012.  Rachel played for the Whitpain soccer team from 2003-2010 and then went onto to play for the Vereinigung Erzgebirge soccer team from 2010-2013.  In addition to playing for those teams, Rachel was also a two-year captain for varsity soccer and basketball at her high school.  As an active member of her church, Rachel participated in a 30-hour famine where she was able to raise $750 for the organization World Vision. Rachel was named Editor-in-Chief of her school newspaper, and a two-year sports editor for her school yearbook.  She plans to continue her love for journalism at Washington & Lee University.  
     
Richard Wood attended Millville Jr/Sr High School in Millville.  Richard has excelled throughout high school by being named the Math and Language Student of the Marking Period, Junior and Senior Class Treasurer, Athlete of the Week, and a part of the Distinguished Honor Roll.  Richard played for the MSC United his junior to senior year.  Richard was also a member of the Varsity Soccer and Basketball team where he was a captain for both teams.  He has volunteered his time helping younger basketball, soccer, and tennis teams improve their skills.  Richard has been a member of the Millville Community Fire Company since he was 14.  He helped out any way that he could by assisting at their annual carnival in July for 10 days and helping with monthly meals.  Richard will attend Penn State Hazelton Campus and is thrilled to be studying Aerospace Engineering.  After two years he plans to transfer to University Park where he will finish.
 
Matthew Kleinhenz attended Parkland High School in Allentown.  While in school Matthew was an excellent student where he maintained a GPA of 4.22 and was on the Distinguished Principal’s List for all four years of high school.  Matthew was a member of the National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and the German National Honor Society.  Matthew holds the title of BSA Eagle Scout Rank (2012), President of the Leo Club, Recording Secretary of the National Honor Society, and the Athletic Representative for the Student Senate.  In addition to these titles, Matthew has been awarded the 2012 Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Outstanding Leaders of Character and the 2012 Union League of Philadelphia Good Citizenship Award.  Matthew has volunteered numerous hours of his time through the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project, community service for the Leo Club, tutoring high school and middle school students in various subjects, and service projects for the Holy Trinity Senior High Youth Group.  Athletically, Matthew played for the Lehigh Valley United 94 boys’ team for three years, the Parkland Trojans high school team for all four years, and was a member of the track and field team for three years. Matthew plans to attend Lehigh University where he will study Business.
