David E. Tordone passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, due to complications associated with acute leukemia. David was born Dec. 19, 1947 in Philadelphia to the earlier deceased Joseph and Myrtle Tordone. Dave graduated from Upper Darby high School and earned a basketball scholarship to Temple University where he majored in economics, graduating in 1969. A talented athlete all of his life, he played basketball and lettered each year for Temple which included appearances in the NIT at Madison Square Garden. As an adult he was an accomplished golfer having once shot 69. Dave was well known as a coach for youth club soccer. He was an assistant and heads coach for FC Delco and Lehigh Valley competing at state Regional and National levels. For the past 5 years Dave coached W.C. Rustin High School and he was the only coach to take any team to the district tournament each of 7 years and this year qualified for the first state tournament. Aside from being a loving father, husband and dad, Dave spent most of his available time helping young athletes further their careers mentoring and assisting in furthering their education and careers. David was known by his family friends and colleagues as the perfect role model. He was the one who set powerful, meaningful examples for everyone around him. He is survived by his wife Linda; daughters, Lauren and Kristen; son, David; granddaughter Emma Grace; and his brothers, Joseph and Alfred. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9th, in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19382, where friend may call after 9:30 a.m. They may also call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8th, in the Frank C.
