Eastern PA Youth Soccer Celebrates Its Achievements and Shapes the Future at Annual Gatherings

 

Calling all Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer families and friends! Save the dates for two important annual events in February: Our Annual Awards Banquet on Friday, February 23, 2024, and our Annual General Meeting on February 24, 2024, both at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Reading. These special events offer a chance to celebrate the many accomplishments of our players and coaches, to recognize outstanding dedication to our organization, and to contribute to charting the course for the future of EPYSA. 

 

Shining a Light on Excellence 

The first event kicks off on Friday, February 23, 2024, with our prestigious Annual Awards Banquet, honoring remarkable players, coaches, and teams who have gone above and beyond. Be a part of the thrill as we announce the winners in the following categories: 

 

  • Service to the Youth - Barry Gorman - From 1987 to 2009, Barry Gorman etched his name in Penn State soccer history as the program's most successful coach, amassing 266 wins at the helm of the men's team. He was also a former ODP coach for Eastern PA Youth Soccer.
  • Admin of the Year - Sarah Thomas 
  • Mike Barr Excellence in Coaching Award - Gary Ross - Gary Ross, who kicked off his career in England, became a two-time All-American at Lock Haven University. He then turned pro before dedicating himself to coaching.
  • Boys & Girls Coach of the Year - Holly Hoy and Bret Altimore - From championship-winning player to dedicated coach, Holly Hoy, Keystone FC Director of Coaching, works hard to inspire soccer's next generation. Bret Altimore, Ballyhoo’s coach, is a veteran coach with impressive wins. 
  • Boys & Girls Team of the Year - FC Revolution Reds and Ballyhoo 07 Black - 
  • D'Anjollel Award - Reading Berks, Junior Soccer League - Through the dedication of a 25+ member club, Reading Berks Junior Soccer League stands strong as a vibrant league, ensuring grassroots youth soccer continues to flourish.
  • Service to Community - JT Dorsey Foundation - The JT Dorsey Foundation uses the power of soccer to empower under-resourced youth in Pennsylvania. Through programs like Soccer for Success, Future Leaders, and Skill School, they help kids build character, excel in academics, and contribute to their communities.

Shape the Future of EPYSA 

Following our Annual Awards Banquet, the Annual General Meeting on February 24, 2024, provides a forum for our members to actively participate in shaping the future of EPYSA; it’s where we gather to recap the previous year in soccer, look forward to the current year, vote on changes to bylaws and constitution, and hold elections. This is your chance to:

 

  • Learn about proposed bylaws and constitutional amendments.
  • Have your voice heard on important matters affecting the organization.
  • Ask questions and engage in open dialogue with the Board of Directors.
