Carli Lloyd Hometown Farewell Match | October 6th

The storied soccer career of Carli Lloyd will be coming to an end this fall. However, before the local legend hangs up her cleats, she will be playing in front of a hometown crowd one last time.

NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League will play its October 6th match against the Washington Spirit at Subaru Park in celebration of Lloyd’s career. Lloyd and other officials from Gotham and the Union gathered Thursday afternoon at Subaru Park for a news conference to make the official announcement.

“I am beyond thankful to Gotham FC and the Philadelphia Union for making this happen,” Lloyd said. “I have played many games at Subaru Park with the National Team and to have the opportunity to play in front of my home crowd on the club level will be an amazing memory.”

Llyod grew up about 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia in Delran, N.J. She is one of the most decorated soccer players of all time, having amassed 312 caps (second all-time), 128 goals (fourth all-time), and won two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals. She has also been named FIFA Player of the Year twice.

Lloyd is set to play her final four matches with the United States Women’s National Team in September and October. While she has previously played at Lincoln Financial Field and Subaru Park with the United States Women’s National Team, the October 6th match will be the first time that Lloyd has played with a club team in the Philadelphia area.

The match begins at 7:00PM and can be seen on CBS Sports Network and Twitch. Tickets to the public will go on sale September 16th. Please visit the Philadelphia’s Union website for more information on tickets.
