Jim Outt

James F. "Jim" Outt, 71, of Danville PA was welcomed into Glory and into the arms of his loving Savior on Monday, November 10, 2014.  He was born December 25, 1942 in Chester PA  the son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth “Betty” Pursel Outt.  

He graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1960 and from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven CT in 1961.

 Jim served his country as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1966 in Hawaii, Japan and Vietnam.

 For over 25 years, he was employed as the manager of the Buckhorn Truckstop Restaurant in Bloomsburg.  With his wife, he was the owner and manager of the Outt's Inn in Danville PA from 1986-1988. 

 He was a member of First Baptist Church Danville PA where he served faithfully as a cook for Wednesday night dinners, the Easter sunrise services and funeral luncheons. Before taking on the kitchen responsibilities, he drove the church van for several years picking up children and bringing them to Sunday School. He taught the fifth grade boys Sunday School class.  Jim was also a dedicated soccer coach with Danville AYSO when his children were young. He was an officer for the Central Susquehanna Soccer Club for many years.  And he served as District 13 Commissioner and Alternate Commissioner for the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association.

One of Jim's greatest joys in his life was volunteering for 10 years in the GAiN warehouse kitchen during work projects with the Global Aid Network (GAiN) in  Mt. Joy, PA.  Along with his wife, he traveled on GAiN mission trips to Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.  Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family whom he adored.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Ruth Frederick Outt whom he married at Bucknell’s Rooke Chapel on October 15, 1966.  Also surviving are two sons: Benjamin Outt and his wife Stephanie of Cincinnati Ohio; Christopher Outt and his wife Nicole of Riverside PA; and one daughter: Rebecca McClelland and her husband Mark of Springwater, NY.  Additionally he is survived by ten grandchildren who brought him great joy: Alexis, Jason, Nicolas, Ryan, Riley, C.J., Olivia, James, Isaac and Grace.  Also surviving are two sisters: Kathy Bower and Christine Hollinger, both of Berwick PA;  one brother, David Outt of Millville PA; and one niece, Heather Romanot of Danville, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jim's life to be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (Rt. 642 East) Danville, PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland assisted by the Reverend Dawes Dunham.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. Private burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Mission Fund or Global Aid Network, 1506 Quarry Road, Mt. Joy PA  17552.
