ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Lehigh Valley United will celebrate the life of Dave Robinson, a coach instrumental in the founding of the club, at an event at the Lou Ramos Center in Allentown on Sunday, November 12 at 11 a.m.
Robinson, who passed away recently, was hired in the early 1990s by LVU founder Lou Ramos to utilize his training company Soccer STM (Skills/Tactics/Methods) to develop players from around the Lehigh Valley.
“Dave's vision regarding soccer training methodology became the foundation that eventually evolved into Lehigh Valley United,” a tribute on the club website reads. “Simply put, LVU would not exist without Dave Robinson.”
Robinson was a coach, board member and advisor at Lehigh Valley United. He also served as an Olympic Development Program coach for Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer and as a Region 1 ODP coach in the 1980s and 1990s.
Robinson was also the first women’s soccer head coach at Muhlenberg College, an assistant under Jeff Tipping for the men’s team and coached a number of high level youth teams in the Lehigh Valley and Harrisburg areas. He held a USSF A License and was actively involved in Coaching Education.
He played at SUNY Oneonta and was a Liverpool FC fan.
