Just over one week ago, about 1,500 youth soccer players from across Eastern Pennsylvania gathered at locations across the region to show their skills at the first round of ODP Tryouts. On Sept. 18 and 19, those players had yet another opportunity to perform for coaches and earn a call back.
After the first weekend of tryouts, Technical Director Mike Barr said that he was excited about the upcoming year and thinks that all of the teams will have success like last year. He added that when going around to different fields, he thought the talent was “really strong this year.”
That assessment carried over to the tryouts on the 18th and 19th.
“The second weekend of try-outs really expanded upon the great talent we saw last week,” Director of Soccer Development & Performance Gary Stephenson said. “The players came in ready to compete for a callback spot and really elevated the level of play.”
With tryouts being held in Downingtown, Lancaster, Lehigh Valley, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Bucks, Scranton and Harrisburg, there were plenty of players to evaluate. Stephenson added that the coaches will have some tough decisions to make and that they wish everyone the best of luck as the final weekend of tryouts looms.
The next step in the process will be call backs. Click here to see callback rosters.
