2022 Presidents Cup Finals Recap
The 2022 Presidents Cup was a whirlwind of excitement for players, coaches, family, and friends. Despite having a feel-like temperature in the high 90s, athletes were determined to outlast the blistering heat to ensure they did their best to come home as 2022 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Champions.
Western Lehigh Valley United SC vs Montgomery United SC competing early morning as 19U Girls 2022 Presidents Cup Champions.
19U girls Western Lehigh Valley United SC and Montgomery United SC kicked off the day’s events with their 8:30 a.m. match. Western Lehigh Valley United SC, which won 3-1, secured their spot to compete for the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup at the regional level.
17U Boys Colonial Clash vs Hulmeville Dormund competing on May 21 for 2022 Presidents Cup Championships.
At 5 p.m., 17U boys teams Colonial Clash and Hulmeville Dormund were ready for their match to begin. The heated game (both literally and figuratively) brought the energy. Both sides were fiercely cheering on their respective teams on the field and the sidelines. Hulmeville pulled through with a win. The final score was 5-4.
19U Boys Montgomery United SC vs North United SC Vipers competing for 2022 Presidents Cup Championships on May 21.
The last game of the night was a tough challenge between Montgomery United SC Baraca and North United SC Vipers. The match, which went into overtime, proved to be an entertaining game. Assertive, aggressive, and competitive, the match was a constant back-and-forth battle – especially in the first half. Though the boys played a dominant game on both teams, there were moments of considerable sportsmanship displayed. In one instance, a player from North Union United Vipers helped lift up a fallen player from Montgomery United after an accidental hit.
All things considered, both teams certainly displayed why they are such incredible teams. However, only one team can be crowned 2022 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Champions. North Union United Vipers, whose final score ended with an overtime win 2-1, left as Presidents Cup Champions.
The win may come as a surprise to some, but maybe not to the team and its coaches. Interestingly, the match was originally scheduled to kick off early in the morning but had to be postponed due to conflicts. What were those conflicts, you might ask? Almost half of the Vipers were competing in the PIAA State Championships in track and field earlier that day. Despite having no subs available, the team miraculously pulled off a win.
All teams crowned 2022 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Champions advance to the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships held at Barboursville and Charleston, West Virginia, from June 17-21.
Congrats to all teams who participated in the Presidents Cup on May 21, 2022! Good luck to those competing at regionals!
