Celebrated for their tremendous effort throughout the past year, the Anderson Monarchs were recognized at the 2022 John Wanamaker Athletic Award luncheon on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

The Anderson Monarchs were one of the finalists for the Robert P. Levy Community Service Award, which is presented to the individual, business, or organization which has done the most to contribute to the quality of life in Philadelphia through sports.

The award is presented each year by PHL Sports, and Executive Director Amos Huron accepted the award on behalf of the Anderson Monarchs.

"It's a huge honor to be recognized for this award and to be a part of the larger soccer community in Philadelphia. Youth soccer in Philadelphia is on the verge of exploding, and we are thrilled to continue working with Eastern PA Youth Soccer to continue to grow the sport in the area," said Huron.

The Anderson Monarchs’ mission is to provide underserved youth with opportunities to develop to their fullest potential athletically, academically, and as leaders in their community.

The South Philadelphia sports-based youth development organization believes sports open doors for these children. Just as the professional sports teams in the city bridge the divide within our communities, youth sports do this every day for the city and its members, making the city a better place to live.

The Anderson Monarchs have launched professional careers for many basketball, baseball, and soccer players, and most notably, the 2014 Little League World Series team was a team from the Anderson Monarchs. When asked what the highlight of working for The Anderson Monarchs is, Huron said, “I love watching the kids being inspired by the professional players—most recently watching them try to emulate Bryce Harper's two-run home run swing.”
