During United Soccer Coaches Convention at the Pennsylvania Convention Center last week, two of Eastern PA Soccer's own, Rob Smith and Mike Curry, were inducted into the 2022 Black Coaches Hall of Fame.
Coach Rob Smith is currently the Associate Head Coach of the Lancaster Inferno. Coach Smith has an impressive background coaching FC Delco, taking the club to five state titles, and numerous regional championships and national finalist titles. He also coached ODP for 5 years.
In addition to all of his coaching accomplishments, Rob served as President of FC Delco and was also Pro Representative for United Soccer Coach Board of Directors. He is currently on the Philadelphia Union Foundation Board of Directors, JT Dorsey Foundation Advisory Board, and is currently the Director of Business Development of the Academy Sports Complex.
Mike Curry spent over 40 years serving in management and leadership positions with several successful management organizations. Beyond his time spent in the business world, he lived almost a second life as an active member of the soccer community. As a member of the United Soccer Coaches for over 25 years, he has volunteered in several leadership, administrative, coaching, and philanthropic roles within the organization.
Mike served as Chairman from 2011 - 2019 of the Philadelphia Union Foundation. He is a member of the YSC Academy Board, the Philadelphia Union-affiliated private high school for soccer players. He also served on FC Delco Soccer Club and Starfinder Foundation boards for many years.
We are so excited for Mike Curry and Coach Rob Smith for being inducted into the Black Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame! Congratulations!
