A former USYS national finalist from Eastern PA was named MVP of the College Spring League after Louisville defeated Cleveland State in a penalty shootout on Saturday night at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus.
Josh Jones, a sophomore defender at the University of Louisville, played youth soccer with the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals and was on a team that made it to a national final with the Ukies at the 2019 USYS National Championships.
Jones made 36 appearances (34 starts) in his first two seasons with the Cards not counting spring games, scoring 5 goals and adding a pair of assists.
The College Spring League started in 2019 as a way to give college programs a competition during their spring exhibition season. In addition to the two finalists, the College Spring League this year included Bowling Green, Dayton, Michigan, Marshall, Ohio State and Xavier.
