Jesús Ferreira scored an 82nd minute equalizer off a deflected pass from Jordan Morris to give the U.S. Men's National Team a 1-1 draw with Mexico in front of 55,730 fans in Glendale, Arizona on Wednesday night.

El Tri took a 1-0 lead 10 minutes after halftime when Uriel Antuna deflected an Aaron Long clearance and was able to beat Sean Johnson 1v1 on the ensuing breakaway. The goal snapped Johnson's USMNT-record shutout streak at 814 minutes. Johnson made a big stop in the 73rd minute to deny forward Roberto de la Rosa a curling effort that would've doubled Mexico's advantage. 

U.S. head coach Anthony Hudson fielded a starting XI that featured eight players from the 2022 FIFA World Cup roster. Caleb Wiley, an 18-year-old defender from Atlanta, made his senior national team debut when he checked in for Sergiño Dest in the 90th minute. 

The Ferreira equalizer was the eighth career international goal for the 22-year-old and extended the U.S. unbeaten streak against Mexico to five (3-0-2). The USMNT is 22-36-17 all-time against their continental rivals and 17-9-8 since 2000.

The two teams will meet again with more on the line on June 15 in the 2022-2023 Concacaf Nations League semifinal in Las Vegas. The U.S. won the inaugural competition in 2019-2020. The winner of the semifinal will play the winner of the Canada/Panama semifinal on June 18.
