Despite a three-hour delay for heavy storms, Day 1 of the USYS Eastern Presidents Cup was a successful one with plenty of memorable action.
While there were some lopsided score lines there were also plenty of close games as well in the 58 matches played on the day at The Proving Grounds and Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Eleven games were decided by one goal and six games ended in a tie in the first of three group matches.
Century United, PA Classics, West Mont United and NJ Stallions each posted wins from two teams on the day while Virginia Valor FC had a win and two draws.
A total of 84 clubs have teams competing. Twenty-three of those clubs have more than one team.
Group play resumes Friday morning with four games kicking off at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and seven kicking off at The Proving Grounds at 8 a.m.
