fffa23worldcuplogoA new Women's World Cup champion will be crowned early Sunday morning when England and Spain face off in the final of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The final will kick off at 5 a.m. eastern time from Stadium Australia in Sydney and will be broadcast live on FOX and Telemundo.

England knocked off host Australia on Wednesday morning 3-1 to advance to the final. Lauren Hemp had the game winner in the 71st minute after Sam Kerr equalized for the hosts in the 63rd. Alessia Russo iced the win for the Lionesses with an 86th minute strike.

Spain won the earlier semifinal on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Sweden on an 89th minute goal from Olga Carmona. Carmona's strike came seconds after Rebecka Blomqvist leveled the score at 1-1.

The winner on Sunday will be the fifth different country to win the World Cup in its ninth edition. The U.S. has won it four times, Germany twice and Norway and Japan each once. England finished fourth in 2019 and third in 2015. Spain is competing in just its third World Cup. They finished 12th in 2019 and 20th in 2015.
