Philadelphia native Chris Albright named MLS Sporting Executive of the Year

Philadelphia native Chris Albright has been named Major League Soccer's Sporting Executive of the Year as the General Manager of FC Cincinnati. 

Albright, a former U.S. International who played youth soccer for Juniata YSA, FC Bayern and Council Rock, has helped lead FC Cincinnati from a last place finish in each of their first three seasons in MLS to a 10th place finish last season and a regular season first place finish this year.

FC Cincinnati's Supporters' Shield win was Albright's second of his post-playing career. He was the technical director of the Philadelphia Union when they won the shield in 2020. 

"Albright has been key to the club's success by overseeing the the effective acquisition (through transfers and the MLS SuperDraft), retention and development of its players," the press release announcing the honor stated. 

As a player, Albright won MLS Cup and the Supporters' Shield with DC United in 1999 and both trophies agin with the LA Galaxy in 2002. He won a third MLS Cup with LA Galaxy and a U.S. Open Cup in 2005.
