Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer welcomed Matthew Ralph to the staff this week as the Director of Communications.

As the Director of Communications, Matt is responsible for various aspects of the association’s communications program, including public relations, content development and editing of all print and digital publications, website management and development, internal- membership communications/external general public communications and social media.

Matt comes to the association from Delaware County Community College, where he served as the assistant director of web content and digital marketing for 11 years. A seasoned soccer writer and photographer, Matt has covered the sport extensively for the past decade. 

“Matt is a great addition to our team,” CEO Chris Branscome said. “He’s one of the most respected and knowledgeable writers in our market. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the youth game and will shine a bright light on the many great players, teams and programs we have in Eastern Pennsylvania.”

Matt’s work has appeared on MLSSoccer.com, NPSL.com, TheCup.us, USSoccer.com and other publications. He served as the managing editor of SB Nation website Brotherly Game for five years and is currently an editor and writer for Philadelphia Soccer Now.

Matt was born in Olathe, Kansas, but grew up mostly in South Jersey, graduating from Triton Regional High School in Runnemede, N.J. He played youth soccer in Mt. Laurel, Voorhees and Gloucester Township and was a public address announcer for basketball and sports editor for the student newspaper in high school. 

He graduated from Lebanon Valley College and has also worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in New Jersey and Indiana and in nonprofit communications in Louisville and Lancaster. He lives in Broomall with his wife, Sara, and two elementary school-aged children.
