ODP Purpose:

To identify and provide opportunities for high potential players, facilitate their development, expose them to the next level of their chosen pathway and motivate their pursuit of excellence.

EPA ODP:

The Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program (ODP) aims to offer young players several key opportunities for growth and development including:

  • Additional Training and Playing Opportunities: ODP provides 10-training sessions and 4-playing opportunities beyond regular club activities.

  • Representation at Various Levels: Selected players get the chance to represent Eastern Pennsylvania at regional, national, and even international events.

  • Pathway to Reach Player Goals: The programs serves as a platform for players to showcase their skills to ODP regional scouts and college coaches, potentially opening doors for higher-level opportunities. ODP will host a college recruitment forum for rising freshmen sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the program.

  • Club Neutral Environment: ODP is designed to complement the work clubs are already doing, and committed to ensuring that our program benefits both the players and the clubs they represent.

  • High-Level Competition and Coaching: ODP ensures that players engage in competitive training sessions and friendlies against other State Association ODP teams. Players will receive instruction from USSF licensed coaches. The coaching is designed to refine technical skills, improve tactical understanding, and foster a competitive spirit among players.

  • Training Curriculum Aligned with USSF Methodology: This alignment ensures that players receive training and opportunities that is consistent with national standards, preparing them not only for current competitions but also for potential future opportunities at higher levels of play.

EPA ODP Selection Process:

The State Association will host TRYOUTS for the 2024-2025 Season on September 7 & 21, 2024 for Boys and Girls in U15-U17 age groups and on September 8 & 22 for Boys and Girls in U12-U14 age groups.

Selected and registered players are expected to participate in all ODP Activities during the calendar year. There is a seasonal fee of $900.

Training sessions focus on player development and enhancing individual and team abilities. Games and Friendlies are scheduled to provide additional playing opportunities as well as develop team cohesion in preparation for the East Regional Tournament, held in June.

The East Regional Tournament is a scouting event where players are evaluated by USYS ODP Regional Scouts. If a player is selected, they are then invited to Regional ID Camp (July) where they have the opportunity to be selected to the Inter-Regional and National ODP teams for their specific age group. More information on USYS ODP can be found HERE.
