Earlier this month, Phil Frederick assumed the role of State Youth Referee Administrator (SYRA) on an interim basis. The job will officially open on September 1.
Frederick has served a variety of roles in soccer. He started as a coach in 1992 and later became a board member of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League and president of Mechanicsburg Soccer Club.
He also served as Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer District 9 Commissioner for more than 10 years. Frederick represented the state association at the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup on multiple occasions as well.
Frederick got his start in refereeing in 2002. A Grade 8 official, he was a Grade 9 assessor from 2012-2017 and a Grade 8 assignor from 2012-14. He was the assistant State Youth Referee Administrator until stepping down in 2016.
