In conjunction with the Mayor’s Office of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia International Unity Cup, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer will host a one-day clinic for the youth players of Philadelphia’s Indonesian community.

The clinic will take place Saturday, April 22 at the Murphy Rec Center fields in South Philadelphia from 10:00 – 11:30 AM. It will feature dozens of players ages 9-12. Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Technical Director Mike Barr will run the clinic along with fellow staff members and adult players from Team Indonesia.

“The Unity Cup brought together a wide range of communities from within Philadelphia and showed just how much soccer is really ingrained here,” said Barr. “This clinic, and our participation during last year’s tournament, allows us to continue to fulfill our mission to promote and facilitate soccer for all youth at all levels of play in Eastern Pennsylvania.”

After the youth clinic, Barr will also run a session for the adult players from 12:00 – 1:30 PM.

Team Indonesia received the Fair Play Award at the inaugural Philadelphia International Unity Cup in 2016. The Award was voted on by participating teams, coaches and referees. In addition to the clinic, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer also donated equipment and balls to Team Indonesia. Team Indonesia was honored at halftime of the Unity Cup Final, where group fair play awards were handed out as well.

The 2017 Unity Cup will take place September 8 to November 4.
