Longtime Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer coach and administrator Ralph Hofmann passed away this week at the age of 84. He was inducted into both the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame and the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association Hall of Fame.
Hofmann coached youth soccer, high school soccer and worked primarily with the Inter-County Soccer League.
Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association President Jim Bollinger remembered him thusly:
"It is with a heavy heart that I pass on the news of the passing of Ralph Hofmann, one of the stewards of soccer in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Ralph grew up in the Philadelphia area, and coached both boys and girls EPYS youth teams for 25 years. He also coached high school soccer for over 28 years in the Suburban One league.
Ralph was noted for his many administrative roles in soccer, primarily with the Inter-County Soccer League, serving as their President, Treasurer and Games Commissioner.
He was recognized by the Philadelphia Old Timers in 1996 and inducted into their Hall of Fame, presented with the Bensalem Soccer Club Hall of Fame award in 2003, and most recently inducted into the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame in 2016.
He will be missed, but his legacy and contributions to our beautiful sport will continue on amongst his peers and the lives of those he touched."
Services for Ralph Hofmann will be held Monday, May 22 at the McGhee Funeral Home. More information can be found here.
