Former ODP & FC Revolution/Penn Fusion Player to Enter the NWSL Draft

Shea Moyer, from Wyomissing, PA, will have the opportunity of a lifetime to potentially hear her name called in the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League Draft tonight, January 13, at 7PM, which will exclusively be streamed on their Twitch page here. She looks to follow her father’s footsteps, Jerry Moyer, who also played at Penn State University and professionally.

Before her collegiate days at Penn State University, she was a former Olympic Development Program player and played for Penn Fusion and FC Revolution. She attended Wyomissing Area High School. She’s attended 15 United States Women’s National team camps from U14 to U20. Moyer played in the 2016 U20 Women’s NTC Invitational and the 2016 Women’s International Cup in Ireland for the U18 United States Women’s National team. During her senior year of high school, she saw many individual accolades such as being the 22nd ranked player and 10th best midfielder in the class of 2017 by TopDrawerSoccer, and a High School All-American in 2015 and 2016.

Moyer has had to overcome many obstacles such as two ACL injuries to both knees in high school and her junior year season at Penn State and losing her senior season to COVID-19. Before the injury, Moyer starter all 25 games as a sophomore where she scored three goals and had six assists. She helped lead the 2017 BIG Ten Champions (freshmen year) to a 18-6-1 record and another BIG Ten Championship appearance in 2018 but lost to the University of Minnesota in a penalty shootout. Penn State went onto the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament where they lost to the soon to be champions, Florida State University, in the Quarterfinals.

She graduated from Penn State with a degree in Kinesiology and is now certified personal trainer. Even with two years left of NCAA eligibility, she knows she has what it takes to become a professional player in the National Women’s Soccer League. All of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer community is excited for Shea and this amazing opportunity she has. We wish you the best and will be tuned in tonight at 7PM!

Check out this throwback interview below with Shea when she was an ODP player for us! We’re so proud and eager to see what she does at the next level.
