Three Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Teams Win Regionals

Three Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Clubs Claim Regional Titles

Plymouth Meeting, PA (June 30, 2015)—The 2015 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships concluded Tuesday in Barboursville, West Virginia with 18 finals from the under-12 to under-19 levels taking place. Six Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer clubs competed Tuesday after the association went 6-0 during Monday’s semifinals. Three teams emerged as champions. HMMS Eagle FC Impact (U12 Girls) defeated Pennsylvania-West representative North United Rush 1-0, while Penn Fusion Elite (U16 Boys) beat Baltimore Celtic (MD) in penalties. The champions of the U15 Girls Division produced the finest performance. FC Pennsylvania Strikers trounced Smithtown Kickers SC Hotspur 5-0 in its final.

“We’re tremendously proud of our teams’ efforts in West Virginia,” said Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Chief Executive Officer Chris Branscome. “More than a third of our competing teams reached the finals. To have three winners and three second place finishers shows the depth of quality in our state’s region.”

Lehigh Valley United (U17 Boys), West Chester United Predators (U12 Boys) and Continental FC Premier (U19 Girls) finished as runner-ups in their respective divisions.

Penn Fusion and FC Pennsylvania advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships as winners of Region I. Lehigh Valley United already booked a place in nationals, which will take place July 21-26 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, thanks to winning the US Youth Soccer National League. The U12 division does not advance past regionals.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides approximately 185,000 players on 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation, while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.

The US Youth Soccer National Championships serves as the crown jewel of competitive youth soccer as the nation's top 88 youth soccer teams, in the Under-13 through Under-19 Boys and Girls brackets, compete for the US Youth Soccer National Championship title.
